Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has named the nations he considered as favorites to win the 2018 FIFA World Cup which will start this month in Russia.

Despite winning all major trophies in his career, the Argentina international has never won the World Cup title, but finished as runners up in the last edition in 2014.

Germany who defeated Argentina in the 2014 World Cup final are favorites to retain their title in Russia this year.

”All the big footballing nations will start as favorites.

“My dream is still the same – to be in the final and lift the cup. It is really difficult to go the distance and play the final of a World Cup.

“The reigning champions Germany will try their best to achieve it once more.

“Spain has a very good side that can go the distance. Brazil and Portugal did well in the qualifiers, so did France.

“We all know how challenging it is to win a World Cup, but we all want it, Argentina needs it,” Lionel Messi told Times of India according to Express UK.

Lionel Messi helped his nation to qualify for the 2018 World Cup where they will face Super Eagles of Nigeria, Iceland and Croatia in Group D.
